CREAM CHEESE FOAM TEA

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

Hear me out.

TRUST ME— I know it sounds weird. But cheese foam tea is an unexpected combo that just... works. It's a really popular drink in Singapore, Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia; we just finally caught onto the hype. I first had it two summers back at a boba shop called Happy Lemon and I was amazed!! I actually became so obsessed with it that I would drive to the boba shop every week after my internship to get it and spent 5 dollars every time...

The cold tea is topped with a foamy layer of cream cheese and milk. It's fluffy, sweet, salty, and creamy. It reminds me of the Starbuck's salted cold foam but better.

CREAM CHEESE FOAM TEA (AKA CHEESE TEA) :

  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup of half and half (or milk)

  • 2 tablespoon cream cheese (room temperature)

  • 2 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • COLD TEA (tea bag + water + sugar)

To make the fluffy cheese foam, start by whisking your cream cheese (make sure it's at room temperature so there are no lumps). After the cream cheese is nice and fluffy, mix in your half and half. Add in your heavy cream and whisk until your foam is nice and fluffy. Add in your sugar and salt and mix until dissolved.

Cheese tea is served with sweet iced green or black tea. Brew your tea, add sugar to your liking, and let it cool.

Add your foam on top of your tea and enjoy your cheese foam tea.

Remember: Recipes are just general ratios of ingredients and it doesn't have to be exact. If you want it sweeter, add in more sugar as you go. If you want it saltier, add in more salt. If you want it to be fluffier, add in more heavy cream. Baking is supposed to be fun so play around with the flavors, the world is yours!

IMPORTANT: I'm fortunate enough to be able to connect with everyone on here through baking and food but there are also many important issues going on that needs attention. Continue to learn, educate yourself, and grow.
